MARKET PLACE VILLAGE DEBUTS AT SUPER FAIR

6/12/2009 : Costa Mesa, CA---For 47 weeks a year the Orange County Market Place operates in the parking lot at the fairgrounds and closes during the annual Orange County Fair. This year, for the first time, the Market Place will be at the Fair, which runs July 10 through August 9.

Though many of the swap meet vendors will take their usual hiatus, a handpicked group of them will present a slice of the Market Place during the Fair in the new Market Place Village.

About 90 of the regular swap meet merchants representing a variety of products will be featured in the Market Place Village located in the northwest corner of the fairgrounds, adjacent to the kiddie carnival and close by the popular pig races. Among them will be fresh fruits and vegetables, gourmet food -to-go items, home furnishings, jewelry, clothing, décor and many others.

The Village will be colorfully decorated with festive flags, canopies and globe lights using the Market Place’s logo colors: orange, white, blue, red and yellow..

It will be open during the fair’s operating hours and will also include several of its specialty food vendors that can be found every weekend at the swap meet. These include the handmade churros, carnitas, hand rolled beef taquitos, sausage and fresh squeezed lemonade.

Adding to the atmosphere will be the Market Place Village Entertainment Stage, which will showcase numerous local musicians and other performers, who are frequently featured at the swap meet on the ACE/KSBR Stage near Carlos Cantina and other locations each weekend.

“We are very excited about our involvement in the Orange County Fair this year. Though we are regulars at the fairgrounds each weekend, this is a whole new form of participation for the Market Place. It not only offers our vendors an opportunity to be involved, but it gives the public a big sample of what we have to offer throughout the year at the swap meet, “ said Jeff Teller, president of the Orange County Market Place.

“People who have not been to the swap meet recently might be in for a big surprise. We have a bit of a fair and festival atmosphere with our extensive event calendar and variety of entertainment, along with a metropolis of unique products and specialty services, “ Teller added.

The Market Place will reopen after the fair the weekend of August 15 and 16, which will include a 40th anniversary of Woodstock tribute concert.
