FALL CONCERT SERIES BRINGS TOGETHER TRIBUTE BANDS,
ROCKABILLY, BLUES AND ACCORDIONS
FREE ADMISSION WITH CANNED FOOD DONATION

8/12/2009 : COSTA MESA, CA---After the success of the Spring Concert Series at the Orange County Market Place, the weekend swap meet at the O. C. Fair & Event Center, a Fall Concert Series has been added for several weekends in September and October. All concerts are free with $2 swap meet admission or FREE with a canned food item for the Orange County Food Bank. Shows are held at noon and 2 p.m. unless otherwise indicated. Opening acts perform before first concert only.

The line up for September is as follows: Saturday, September 5, Hot August Nights: A Tribute to Neil Diamond with Dean Colley; Sunday, September 6, roots, rock and country singer James Intveld from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. with Anaheim’s rockabilly songstress Amber Foxx as the opening act from noon to 1 p.m.; Saturday, September 12, Gregory Wolfe performs as Rod Stewart; Sunday, September 13, blues veteran Rod Piazza and The Mighty Flyers; Saturday, September 26, Mark Wood & The Parrot Head Band, a Jimmy Buffet Tribute; Sunday, September 27, Orange County based rockabilly bands, Big Sandy and the Fly Rite Boys headlines with opening act Kirk Wall and the Anaheim Playboys at 11 a.m.

October concerts include the following: Saturday, October 10, Brian Lynn Jones Band and his Misfit Cowboys in a Rock ‘n’ Tonk Country show with Kelly Boys Country Dance Lessons from 11:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.; Saturday, October 17, Don’t Stop Believing, a Journey Tribute and Sunday, October 18, Blues show with the James Harman Band.

Also added is the 1st Orange County Accordion Festival, ”The Big Squeeze” on Sunday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Showcasing a variety of traditional and contemporary accordion music including Cajun, Zydeco, Russian folk, Polka, Tejano and other styles. Main stage acts feature prominent accordionists and include Raving Polka (aka Limpopo) performing Russian folk with a twist of jazz, blues, dance and comedy from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Grammy nominee for Best Zydeco/Cajun Music , Lisa Haley and the Zydekats take the stage from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. Los Fabulocos with Kid Ramos will spice things up with a Tex-Mex blend of traditional stylings, as well as rhythm and blues and rockabilly music from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Other stages of accordion music from local and regional groups and soloists, demos, dance lessons, and educational presentations will be offered.

In its 40th year the Orange County Market Place is held every weekend (except during the Orange County Fair) at the O.C. Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa. Hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes nearly 1,000 merchants, fresh produce, gourmet foods to go, artisans and crafters, manufactured homes, kid’s play area, inflatable attractions, hair salon, food concessions and more. Admission is $2 and free for kids 12 and under.
